These large aquatic reptiles live throughout the tropics in Africa, Asia, the Americas and Australia.

As you stroll through the croc trail, you will acquire interesting facts and information there is to know about the habits of all ages and sizes of Nile Crocodiles.

The trail consists of 5 water pools or dams, accommodating these cold-blooded predators, either basking lazily in the sun, or “ambushing” in the water, waiting for their prey to come close, in order for them to “launch out” to attack.

Experience the tranquility of waddling, exotic ducks, floating calmly on the water, occasionally submerging into the water to feed on a variety of foods, such as grasses, aquatic plants, fish, insects, worms and small mollusks.

On entering the gates of Southern Palace Crocodile Adventures, you will realize that you have entered a Tropical Paradise, beyond your wildest envisages

Just the mention of the word “Crocodile” conjures up images of a ferocious predator, ripping chunks of flesh from its helpless prey. Launching Jaws is a spectacular show where these merciless “killers” are fed on Wednesdays and Fridays at 14h00.

These animals possess little discrimination between what they eat and have even fewer table manners while eating it.

Nile Crocodiles have an incredible Bite Force of 5000lbf (22 kN) which is greater than that of a Great White Shark, Plus, they boast with a mouthful of between 64 and 68 cone-shaped teeth.

Young hatchlings feed on smaller prey, such as insects, small fish, amphibians and reptiles.

Juveniles and Sub- adults feed on birds and small mammals. The adults however are apex predators and feed on birds, gazelles, antelope, zebra, warthog and even leopards and lions, amongst others. In fact they prey on anything meaty.

Amazingly these carnivorous animals can go without food for a long period of time, but have also been known to become Cannibalistic and eat one another in conditions where there is no food.

Amazingly a Nile crocodile can eat up to half his body weight at one time.

You will be lowered into the Croc- pool slowly, in a sturdy cage, especially designed to withstand the extreme power of these 3m to 4,2m live man- eating crocodiles.The crystal clear water is fully equipped with 100% Biological Filters in order not to disturb the ecosystem or stress the crocodiles out, at a temperature of 30ºC.

A set of goggles will be supplied upon entrance.Now you are free to admire the beauty of the way these wondrous, yet extremely dangerous reptiles move around, camouflaging and, being extremely inquisitive by nature, they will swim faster towards you, moving their bodies in a sinuous fashion- regarding you as an interesting “snack”.

The Cage Diving will set you back R380-00 per person. Due to the potential danger, unfortunately No children under the age of 12 years, will be allowed, unless accompanied by an adult.After your most exciting adrenalin rush, changing facilities, with heated towel rails, hair drying facilities, to ease the shattered nerves, are available.
